Spiritual Longevity

How do we take care of ourselves spiritually?
What steps can we take to stay strong?

1. Look at the world through the eyes of a child.
Our adult take on the world is built on fear and scarcity, which is why we overcompensate by stripping the supermarket shelves bare! We panic and react with selfishness.
Children are more trusting; children look to their parents and see the perfect provider. As we grow up and lose our innocence, our take on the world becomes more shrouded with mistrust and fear. We build walls of protection, which are there to keep us safe, but they also keep other people at bay too.
Instead of building walls that keep others out, we must trust God to help us to be more open. It is probably the worst time ever to counsel for vulnerability, but let's imagine how a spiritual vulnerability would look.
Weakness
Admitting to God that we need help because we feel weak is a good step.
Philippians 4:6-7
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Don't just read this, say it out loud - three times. You're probably on your own anyway!
Wait for God to give his peace. His peace -
transcends all understanding
- so you might not feel it, but it is there. As we choose to spend time with God, he has amazing ways of letting you know that he's with you, and that he loves you.
This is step 1 - there's more to follow.
